This blog is a great idea! As some of you know from Erica's blog and/or the Fletcher School, I am training for the Lake Tahoe Century (100-mile bike race) on June 4 as part of Team in Training to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have dedicated my ride to Erica and and to the mother of another Fletcher student who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. When I don't think I can make it up another hill on my bike, I only need to remember people like Erica who are enduring far greater pain and showing tremendous courage to find renewed energy and inspiration.

As part of my fundraising efforts, I am raffling a 30 GB Video iPod (among other prizes). Tickets are one for $5 or three for $10. They are available at the front desk of the Fletcher School, at several locations in Rhode Island, or by contacting me at katburgess62@yahoo.com. If you would like to learn more, please visit my website at: http://www.active.com/donate/tntri/tntriKBurges.

Please support this wonderful organization and the people it is helping!

I will be running the Boston Marathon this Monday with TNT and Erica is one of my honored heroes.

Her beauty and courage in the face of diversity has inspired me.

I will be running in the San Diego Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon on June 4. Originally, I decided to make this committment to honor my Dad, who just recently finished chemotherapy for Leukemia. However, soon after my training began, I learned about Erica's diagnosis. Now, I will be running for my Dad and Erica. Raising this money and running these miles are just a couple of ways that I can do my part in honoring the victims of these terrible diseases.

I recently joined the Southern Nevada Chapter of Team in Training with my sister Kellie and my best friend Brandy. Erica was my inspiration for wanting to join and I'm so glad I did. I will be running a half-marathon on October 22nd in San Francisco and if anyone would like to donate or hear about the progress of my training, please visit my website or blog:

Greetings from San Francisco!

I used to work at The Fletcher School and heard about Erica from one of my former colleagues. I'm a member of the San Francisco Chapter of TNT and will be running the Nike Women's Full Marathon on October 22nd. I currently do breast cancer research at UCSF and my patients are usually 40 yrs and older. Erica is so young and has a full life ahead of her so I will be dedicating my marathon to her in honor of her fight against Leukemia. When I'm running up a hill and want to give up I'll just remember that my pain is nothing compared to those like Erica who battle cancer.
